Dimensions

FLOOR PLAN DRAWING – a drawing of the floor space as if viewed from above

ELEVATION DRAWING – a view of a wall or an object when facing it. Most walls are simple and do not require any drawings to explain them (apart from denoting their height). Others, especially if we are designing fitted furniture around permanent features, require an elevation drawing with all dimensions. ELEVATIONS AND PLANS can be:
– a simple hand drawing on a piece of paper showing dimensions, you can than scan it or take a photo of it
– a professional technical drawing (formats: DWG, PDF, JPEG, PNG)
– a room plan generated by smart phone apps
For total novices we prepared a little ‘How to Instructions’ PDF which you can print for reference.

Images
PHOTOS OF YOUR SPACE - try to capture all corners and important details of the space you want designed. Videos work great too. If you cannot supply these, do not worry - they do make our job easier but we can often work without them.
REFERENCE IMAGES - photos of design, art, architecture, landscape, furniture or any design details you like. These can be images taken by yourself, found in books, magazines or varous websites like Pinterest - over there you can visit our page, pick what you like and send us a link.
Feedback & Revisions
Sometimes there is only one solution, sometimes there are three or more - you might be perfectly happy with our first design proposal and no further work will be required.
For more complex cases, an additional design revision is included in your design fee. Any further revisions incur a cost so carefully consider what best works for you and clearly communicate your feedback.
FAQ
As eloquently explained by Wikipedia:
SHORT VERSION: “Spatial design is the glue that joins traditional built environment disciplines together with the people they are designed to serve’.“

EXTENDED VERSION: Spatial design is a relatively new conceptual design discipline that crosses the boundaries of traditional design specialisms such as architecture, landscape architecture, landscape design, interior design and service design as well as certain areas of public art.
It focuses upon the flow of people between multiple areas of interior and exterior environments and delivers value and understanding in spaces across both the private and public realm. The emphasis of the discipline is upon working with people and space, particularly looking at the notion of place, also place identity and genius loci. As such the discipline covers a variety of scales, from detailed design of interior spaces to large regional strategies and is largely found within the UK. As a discipline it uses the language of architecture, interior design and landscape architecture to communicate design intentions. Spatial design uses research methods often found in disciplines such as product and service design, as well as social and historical methods that help with the identification and determination of place.
Ultimately it can be seen as ‘the glue that joins traditional built environment disciplines together with the people they are designed to serve’.
A so called ‘remote design’ is a well established method used, among other things, for architectural and design competitions. Project brief and all the necessary details about the site are provided by the client and the more detailed the information, the more comprehensive the final result.

So, our clients will have to provide us with their brief, plans with clear measurement, images or videos of the space they want to work on and reference or inspirational images which can help us establish clients’ design style.
If you cannot supply images of your space, do not worry – they do make our job easier but we can also work without them.
Depending on the type of project, we might instruct you to provide additional details that would help us create a more comprehensive basis for your design.
